Financial Mogul For 27 Dollars!

Calling all Financial Moguls!

A couple of weeks ago I had lunch with my friend Jeff. I always enjoy speaking to him because he has a global view of the world in general, and especially the business world.

We were discussing business moguls, one of my favorite topics of course.

Jeff mentioned the story of an accidental financial mogul.

This financial mogul, Muhammad Yunus, is a former college professor.

Now I'd been hearing a bit about Mr. Yunus for the last couple of years. But I hadn't heard the story Jeff was about to tell me.

Back in the 1970's, well before he became a financial mogul, Mr. Yunus took some of his students on a field trip to a poor village in Bangladesh. Upon interviewing an aspiring female entrepreneur (a bamboo stool maker), he learned that she only had the equivalent of 1 cent profit after paying off her debt to the local loan shark.

So Mr. Yunus, financial mogul to be, decided to make a considerable loan to the village that allowed them to manufacture and sell products. This then allowed them to pay for their children's education and provided a pathway out of poverty.

So what was this stunning, substantial sum that financial mogul Muhammad Yunus loaned to the villagers?

$27!

In order to expand his micro-lending efforts, new Financial Mogul Yunus eventually started an organization called the Grameen Bank, which is now majority owned by the poor villagers it was created to serve.

Ironic huh. Each villager is now, in effect, a financial mogul.

His efforts led to Mr. Yunis winning the 2006 Nobel Prize.

Today that $27 might be more like $75.

But still, you get the point.

It doesn't take much to become a Financial Mogul, because the concept of Mogul Dom is relative. In New York city, $75 might not even get you a good meal. But in some poor countries, $75 will help villagers produce and export their own products!

Fast Forward ...

It's late on a Saturday night. One of those late night infomercials has invaded your TV. But you're too tired to turn away.

"Step right up ... Step right up."

"Ladies and Gentlemen don't be shy. "

"Your dream of being a Financial Mogul is only $27 dollars away. "

"I know it sounds incredible. It's truly amazing."

"But it's true folks. For only $27, you too can become a financial mogul. "

"This isn't some get rich quick scheme. It's the real thing ..."

The overly loud and animated voice of the late-night infomercial host trails off as your eyelids become heavy as you eventually fall into the semi-comatose state, commonly known as sleep.

You fall into a very deep sleep, dreaming that you've become the world's greatest Financial Mogul. You finance start-up ventures around the world - Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, North America, even Antarctica!

And just think, Financial Mogul, each investment costs you just $27!
